Marty Pinnes
Chief Executive Officer and Boss Hog
The brains of the operation. Marty has never raised a pig and never intends to. That, he says, is the entire business model.
Hamazon began, as most great Canadian companies do, in a garage that smelled faintly of bacon.
In the spring of 2019, Marty Pinnes asked the question that would become our banner: what is the biggest decision of your life? He meant it as a sales pitch. We have since come to understand it was also a warning.
Marty wanted to sell teacup pigs. Ken Ranger, who grew up on a farm and had already shovelled a lifetime's share of what pigs leave behind, pointed out that there is no such thing as a teacup pig. There are only small pigs, and time. Marty said that sounded like a logistics problem. Ken said it sounded like a six-hundred-pound problem. They were both right, and that is Hamazon.
The solution was simple. We would sell the pig small. We would guarantee it. And when the pig grew, as every pig does, we would take it back at no additional cost. The customer gets eighteen months with a wonderful pet. The pig gets a name, a couch, and three meals a day it did not have to earn. And Hamazon gets a fully grown, grain-finished, emotionally fulfilled hog delivered to the loading dock by a tearful family who thanks us for the free pickup.
We call this the Hamazon Guarantee. Ken calls it outsourcing. Marty has asked him to stop.
Today Hamazon ships to every province and territory, maintains the highest return rate in Canadian retail, and sells, entirely separately, some of the finest pork in the country. We are often asked where it comes from. We are proud to say it comes from loving homes.

Ken grew up on a farm and has dealt with his fair share of pig shit, which is why he takes the minutes.
Director of Growth
Annik manages the porkfolio. This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home. Annik decides when.
Pig Retrieval and Limo Driver
Josh is the one who knows how the sausage is made, which at Hamazon is not a figure of speech.
We'll be there for the second one, too.
